Take the Pledge – Women Empowering Women

Perceptions About Women

I have always had a desire to help women see their potential. Because I see it. You may not see your potential but I do. And in today’s post, I’m sharing my pledge to help women reach their potential.

I think it’s sad that we are often put up against each other. There is almost a cattiness of not allowing others to succeed.

What are we afraid of? Are we not able to support and uplift each other? Why do we feel insecure about where we are in life? Can we not embrace and celebrate our own uniqueness?

Last year, my brother said to me “Rosie, you have no idea what it’s like to be a brown man living in this world”.

My reply to my brother  “Not only am I brown but I am a woman. And for the longest time, my profession was in a male dominated industry. So, yes, I get what it means to struggle and prove yourself. Despite the odds, I have not allowed that to stop me from reaching my goals.”

Stand For Something

As I was writing this post, I was searching for a motivational video that was geared towards women. I can honestly say, that it was difficult. Most of the videos had male celebrities, male politicians or movie clips with male actors.

But, I finally found one.  In this video, posted below, Sade says:

Standing for something means you believe in what you’re doing, you’re confident in your mission and you’re not willing to compromise your aspirations for anything or anyone.

Sade established Stand For Something, a motivational speaking business that has several community programs designed to teach others the power of believing in one’s self.

My Pledge To You

Earlier, I mentioned my pledge to help women reach their potential. This blog was started  to share my challenges in life and how I faced them. In doing so, it also became clear that if I can do it, others can do it too.

READ: Meet Rosie

The purpose of this blog was to provide a space that, as women, we can face our fears together. We are more powerful together than we are alone. Together, we can encourage each other to get out of our comfort zones and do something different. And finally, a place to celebrate our achievements.

The Pledge

I, (First and last name) promise to lift other women up and make it safe for them to be exactly who they are. I will raise the standards for how we treat each other, how we treat ourselves, and how we treat the world. I will remind myself that: I’m not alone. I’m beautiful. My voice matters. I am enough.

Will you take this pledge? To help and encourage the women around you. Together, we can make a difference!

Rosie, I love coming here. You are always so positive and supportive. Showing us ways to better ourselves and grow into who we want to be. This is quite the pledge. And I will stand with you. It takes as much time and energy to build someone up as it does to tear them down, and it will make use feel good to help another. Is there anything better?

  3. Reminds me of the 4 churches described in the book of Revelation. God was most upset with the lukewarm church…the one the stood for nothing.
