If We Were Having Coffee #2

I thought it would be fun if we could meet for virtual coffee and catch up like old friends. So, grab your coffee/beverage of your choice and meet me for a chat. www.ecurosie.com

Hello weekend!  Do you have anything exciting planned for this weekend?

Although, it’s been a couple of weeks since my last blog post, I have been doing a lot of researching and reading. Today’s post, I thought I would do a “If We Were Having Coffee”.

Read my last “If We Were Having Coffee

Grab your cup of coffee or tea, sit and let’s chat for awhile.

Let’s begin. If we were having coffee. . .

  • I’d tell you that although I haven’t been posting lately, I’ve been making changes to this website. I have changed the theme, layout, and home page. I’m still not 100% happy with the Sela Theme but at the same time, it’s close to what I have in mind for this blog.
  • I’d tell you that I have big plans for this blog. I’ve have been thinking of switching it over to wordpress.org. There is a lot more I can do with this blog if it’s self-hosted. I’ve been trying to weigh the pros and cons of staying here on wordpress.com vs. wordpress.org.
  • I’d tell you about all the research that I’ve been doing on email newsletters. With some of the changes to this site, the next progression is to add a newsletter. I don’t want just any newsletter, I want something that adds value to my readers. I’ve been reading a lot of the best practices, readings tips and deciding what type of content that I’d like to see in the newsletter. if you have any ideas or suggestions of what you’d like to see, message me!
  • I’d tell you that I’ve been participating in a lot of Twitter chats with @SITSGirls. They are a great resource when it comes to learning how to blog and growing your brand utilizing social media. I’ve also started participating in a few Facebook groups for bloggers, such as: Blogging Boost and DYOB Blog Beautiful.
  • I’d tell you that our family is trying to get back into a routine. Outdoor soccer season has started and that means my youngest has practices and games 3 – 4 times a week. This is her first year in a competitive league and she has her first two soccer games today.
  • I’d tell you that my oldest has been busy with her blog Red Sands Reviews and Ramblings. She has recently posted 2 cover reveals for YA Author Shannon A. Thompson and has 5 e-books from other authors on the go. In other news, she received her 3rd quarter report card and has a school average of 94%.

  • And finally but not least, last weekend, I entered a Rock, Paper, Scissors tournament. It was a fundraiser for a local organization. Much to my surprise, I was dubbed “the FIRST, undefeated champion” and won $250 for my winnings. What are the odds of completing it undefeated? Considering the night before, I couldn’t win against my two  daughters in a friendly rock, paper, scissors game.

If we were having coffee…what would you tell me?  What’s happening in your world?

  1. That’s awesome you joined a rock, paper, scissors tournament & even better that you won! I’m liking this post. I also like your design, it’s clean and nice. I’m a self hosted blog on Owrdpress & I absolutely love it. Everything is customizable and there’s a ton of options with different frame works. I can’t wait to see the new design! I’m stopping by from SITS, happy Saturday!

  2. Congratulations on being undefeated! I expect your daughters just know you two well for you to be able to beat them.

I keep thinking I should sort out a newsletter, but I don’t even know where to start.

If you were having coffee, and I was having tea (because I absolutely detest coffee) I would tell you that I FINALLY got the tooth pulled that I’ve been in pain with since before Christmas, along with one of my wisdom teeth, but have to wait until June for the other wisdom tooth to come out; though I don’t mind too much, because at least I’m no longer in pain.

Plus, I’d tell you that I went up to London near the start of April, and got to visit the Sherlock Holmes museum, as well as having lunch with a friend who was visiting from Italy.

I would also tell you that I recently celebrated being self-published for three years, and that I’m celebrating by having some of my books on sale until May 1st; details can be found at http://ziglernews.blogspot.co.uk/2015/04/wednesdays-writing-related-ramblings_22.html if you’re interested, though I won’t be offended if you don’t go take a look.

    • Hi Victoria, my daughter (also of the same name) would be very envious that you visited the Sherlock Homes museum. I am sure that is on her bucket list!

Sorry to hear about your tooth but being pain free would be much better. Here’s to healing quickly. I think I was about 18 when I got all of my wisdom teeth pulled.

Congrats on being self published!!! How did you celebrate? I’ll post your link on my Twitter profile. 😀

      • Thanks for sharing my link about the sale! 🙂

I celebrated with pizza, chocolate, and the purchasing of some new books for myself. Plus, the sale for my fans, of course!

I posted some photos from it on my blog a couple of weeks ago, if you or your daughter would like to take a look. I also checked out your daughter’s blog, and am now following it.

  3. Congratulations on winning. I never ever win at Rock Paper Scissors so am very impressed. I’ve been trying to understand more about blogging this week, mainly I’d like to understand what I’m looking at in Google Analytics. Thanks for the coffee, great to snatch a cuppa while hiding from the housework.

  4. Love that, great post.

Well I’m having my coffee while I’m checking out what people have shared at Saturday Sharefest. Hence I found your post 🙂

    What would I tell you?

    * It’s 10:20 in the UK and I’m psyching myself up to doing my housework, so I’m trying a little time management and I’m having a coffee, checking out some posts but at 10:30 I’m going to whip round and do the house work, if I don’t set myself a time at 11:30 I’ll still be on my computer 😉

    * I’d tell you this morning when I woke up I wrote a little ‘to do list’ on google keep which I hope to achieve today, the main thing is to do some more planning for my Dad’s 80th birthday.

    * I’d tell you, I’m a bit disappointed it’s rainy to do as I was looking forward to a walk with the pooches in the sunshine but hey a walk will still be fun.

    * I’d tell you, I’ve spent much time researching planners this week! I’m debating whether or not I would use it. Do you have one? Trying to organise myself and I’m thinking it may help… I need to divide my time between life, blogging, work and study and frequently I tend to focus on one aspect too much and the rest not enough and I can tell you it’s usually study and housework that I neglect ;D

    * I’d tell you, I still debate whether to change from Bloggger to WordPress. I know WordPress is better but I do like blogger but I feel if I want to grow my blog I’ll be better off with WP.

*The last thing I’d tell you is, it’s been fun having coffee with you, we should do it again 🙂

Oh I’d also tell you I’m Kate from The Tales of Me 🙂 and your newest subscriber 🙂

    • After Saturday’s SITS Twitter chat, starting to feel like I already know you! Thanks for the shoutout and all your positivity!!! I can feel it beaming, and so happy that we’ve been able to connect. 80 years? That’s crazy! Here’s to more birthday celebrations and family togetherness!
I’ve used Blogger for other projects but a lot more familiar with WordPress. i love it and find it so user friendly.
For planners, I kind of use a few different things. I have a paper month-to-month calendar from the dollar store. I write what posts I’ll be posting on social networks and blog. And then I have a notebook with 5 sections. Each section, if for a different topic for my blog (i.e. Monday Motivation, Thankful Tuesday, parenting, dating, etc.) Each section, I write what type of blog posts that come to mind. Thirdly, I use WordPress, in the draft section, I’ll write a few posts that come to mind but I don’t have time to write it down. I have the wordpress button on my cell phone, so I can pop in write a few words and leave it in draft form. Hope all that makes sense, if not, email me at rosie.digout@gmail.com and we can chat some more!!
