Read today’s #FierceFriday Interview with Food Blogger Emmi @emmiscookinMy name is Emanuela. I am 47 years old, born in Rome/Italy, living in Germany. Married and a proud mum of an 11-years-old boy! I love metal music, cooking, reading, blogging and being there for my family!

In this week’s interview, some of the highlights are; blogging in three languages, why she loves to cook, challenges as a food blogger, her favourite food city and much more!

 

Hi Emmi, please tell us a little bit about yourself?

I am a 47-years-old Italian girl, married to my best friend and proud mum of an 11-years-old son. I live since I am 7 years old in Germany. My parents moved back to Italy 20 years ago to the most wonderful coast of the world. The Amalfi coast! There is my home, this is the place, which inspires me!

My love to cook comes from my parent’s side. As a child I’ve loved to be in the kitchen with my mum looking at her preparing lunch or dinner, there I’ve got all my cooking skills!

What is the story behind your blog’s name, Emmi’s Cookinside?

The story behind Emmi’s cook inside it’s quite easy! Emmi is my Nickname from Emanuela! I’ve searched a long time for my blog name and I’ve had quite a few. At the end, I’ve ended up to Emmi’s cook inside because I wanted to have a blog not for recipes only! I want to show the inside of me, things which interest me and share with the world, such as culinary stories, stories about my homeland Italy… so many different things!

On your blog, you write in three different languages. Which three languages are they and why is that important to you?

My blog posts are written in Italian, German and English because I wanted to stay in touch with my mother language Italian but also because I love languages. English was my favourite class at school! So it helps me to keep in touch with my love for languages and it keeps my mind going!

Share your worst cooking nightmare or any epic recipe disasters?

Well, to be sincere, I don’t have cooking nightmares! My nightmare is baking cakes and cookies!! I don’t know why, but baking isn’t really my favourite thing. In this section, I have many many disasters on my list…

Who would you consider a culinary icon?

For me, my personal culinary icon is my Mamma and my Dad!! Really! They are my icons!

Why do you love to cook?

I love to cook for my family and to enjoy them with good food! I think good food is essential for a family, sitting together around the table at dinner and reviewing the day and talking with each other.

As a mom of an 11-year-old boy, what’s your go-to kid-friendly recipe?

Well, that’s a good question! It depends on what kids like the most! My kid-friendly recipe is our absolutely favourite one: Spaghetti Carbonara! Delicious noodles with ham, eggs, and parmesan. Such a delicious and quick dish for the whole family!

What are the biggest challenges and greatest rewards of being a food blogger?

My biggest challenge as a food blogger is to make not only good food. The challenge is here to make good photos and most of all to write a good understanding recipe for everyone! I think, that is the most challenging thing for every food blogger.

The greatest rewards for me personally is to have feedback from dear people who have tried some recipe of mine and like them! This is so great for me to know that I’ve done my work right! 😉

Emmi, do you remember what was your first published recipe?

Oh my goodness! I can’t tell you exactly which one it was. I’ve started years ago with a vegetarian blog called Emmis Happy You Veggie. My first recipe there was: Spaghetti with kale pesto.

What is your favorite food city?

My favourite food city is definitely Naples!

What meal/snack is your guilty pleasure?

My absolute favourite meals and guilty pleasure are pasta, pasta, and pasta in all variations! I’m an Italian girl 😉

First of all, I’d like to thank you, dear Rosie, for this great interview and for giving me the opportunity to introduce myself and my blog!

Well, and I hope that my English is quite good enough 😉

I hope that I can realize some projects that I have in mind for 2017.
