3 Things to Try This Month (in September)
September Means A New Start
Hello September, Goodbye August. This month brings on shorter days, cooler evenings, a new school year and new beginnings. As mentioned in yesterday’s post, I thought this would be the perfect time to introduce a new series called “3 Things to Try This Month’. At the beginning of each month, I’ll post three inspiring ideas and activities to put on your monthly bucket list.
Without further ado, let’s begin!
3 Things to Try This Month
Personal Development – Stop Over-Apologizing
You’re in the grocery store and someone bumps into you because they weren’t looking where they were going. You turn and you say “I’m sorry”.
How many times have we said sorry as a response rather than saying sorry for a wrong doing?
Studies have shown that apologizing more frequently reflect shame than a belief that a wrong has been committed.
If you catch yourself apologizing often, don’t fret. Make something out of it by taking a few moments for a little self-reflection. Lori Deschene at Tiny Buddha recommends two simple questions you can ask yourself each time you apologize:
- “Did I actually do something wrong?”
- And if not, “Did I really want to communicate that I think I did?”
Business Development – Each Week Comment On Two New Blogs
As bloggers, we often hear about the importance of building meaningful relationships with other bloggers. I remember when I first started, I wasn’t sure how to go about commenting on other blogs. What do I comment? Whose blog do I comment on? I was overthinking it which then became a daunting task. So, I didn’t do anything.
I get it. It’s like being the new kid at school all over again.
However, this month, try breaking it down into smaller, more achievable tasks. Each week, comment on two new blogs. Just two, that’s it! By the end of the month, you have met eight new bloggers and have commented on eight new blogs.
Easy peasy, right?!
Just For Fun – Call An Old Friend
With Facebook and Twitter, it’s much easier to keep in touch with our family and friends. Except, this month, I am challenging you to take 15 minutes and call an old friend.
If you miss an old friend and are struggling to catch up, doing so can be as easy as placing a phone call. If you can’t fit in face time, the next best thing is voice time or even Face Time! Remember the ’90s, when you were in high school and used to spend hours on the phone with your friends? Well, it’s like riding a bike, you never forget how to do it. Channel your inner phone-gossiping teen.
That’s it, my friends! I hope that you will enjoy this new series. Keep an eye out for my next “3 Things to Try This Month” coming in October!
What new activities or ideas will you try this month? Let me know in the comments!
