My third and final installment on celebrating International Women’s Day. Don’t forget to check out my other two posts from today: 22 Inspirational & Empowering Quotes for Women and Why We Need To Celebrate International Women’s Day
As I was writing my first blog post this morning about the importance celebrating International Women’s Day, I decided to check out what events that were happening in my city. Much to my surprise, an event was happening at one of our local shooting ranges.
The day’s agenda included a bbq, and participants could try target shooting rifles, shotguns (flying targets) and pistols. Their goal of the event was to show that firing guns was for all ages, both genders, and was acceptance of everyone. One of the Lethbridge Fish & Game Association’s mission is to foster, stimulate and continue a spirit of cooperation, tolerance, understanding and equality between all sportsmen; and that unity of thought and purpose be established towards this goal.
Over the lunch hour guest speakers spoke about how to empower ourselves and others to make positive changes in our lives. Guest speakers included:
- Susan Eymann – Champion Shooter & Community Sports leader
- Debra Gazeley – Former RCMP officer & upcoming community counsellor
- Sara-Lynn Pelegnn – Afghan Veteran – current Cadet & Girl Guide leader

How will you celebrate International Women’s Day? Whatever you do – celebrate women, call for equality – and ‘Make it happen’
